Wayne Thomas graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science in 1983. He has worked in the computer field specializing in process control and supervisor control and data acquisition (SCADA). He has attended extensive training in Solaris and Oracle utilities and graphic design tools.
Wayne has received the Degree of Fellow from the Academy for Excellence in Local Governance. The Academy for Excellence in Local Governance (The Academy) voluntary certificate program is a collaborative effort involving Maryland Association of Counties (MACo), the Maryland Municipal League (MML), the Local Government Insurance Trust (LGIT), and the Institute for Governmental Service and Research (IGSR) of the University of Maryland, College Park, serves as the program administrator.
The Academy certificate program is voluntary. Enrolled government officials are required to take 8 "core" classes and 6 "elective" classes, all available on a rotation basis during MML Winter and Summer Conferences. Wayne is currently taking graduate level courses from the Academy for Excellence in Local Governance.
Wayne continues to take classes each year at the Maryland Municipal League Convention. The classes help keep him abreast of the new State and Federal laws that affect local government and explore new and innovative ways to execute the job of an elected official. |
