Re-elect Wayne H thomas Hampstead Town Council

Wayne Thomas was supporting Public Safety before he was in office. Before he was elected, he asked the Town Council to resolve issues with missing sidewalks and the lack of marked crosswalks in the Robert’s Field development. He also voiced his concerns about traffic and speeding in our neighborhoods. After getting into office Wayne worked to expand the Police Department. He has supported the employment of new Officers and has worked hard each year to make sure that their salary and benefits were competitive with the surrounding jurisdictions to ensure that we did not lose any of our award winning Officers.

Wayne has supported the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Department. When the volunteers first approached the Town about the need for 24 hour EMS personnel, he championed the request that the Town fund at least one shift of the EMS personnel, which the Town has done every year. He has also supported the annual donation to the Hampstead Fire Department.

Wayne has worked to resolve issues with speeding in our neighborhoods. He has listened to the citizens and made tough decisions on where and when to use traffic calming devices. Wayne believes that although the State has standards, sometimes local officials need to make decisions that are right for their citizens.

The recent rise in opioid use in and around Hampstead is very alarming. Overdoses are becoming to common place. An addict affects everyone they come in contact with; their family, friends, co-workers, and first responders. Some addicts steal to support their habit. All these actions have an impact on the quality of life for the citizens of Hampstead. I have long supported the Hampstead Police Department, making sure they have the tools and personnel to ensure the safety of Hampstead’s citizens. Chief David Snyder turned our police force into an award winning department. I have been proud of their accomplishments and the small part I was able to play. Our efforts have made Hampstead one of the best places to live in Maryland. I will continue to support our Police Chief David Snyder and the fine officers that serve the Town of Hampstead.
